Hi there! My name is Sophia and I'm originally from Toronto, Ontario. In 2018, I ventured off from the big city and found my new home in the stunning Bow Valley. My first summer in paradise was spent surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of Lake Louise. My time here ignited my craving for adventure, new connections, and yearning to dive deeper into yoga—a practice that I had only scratched the surface of. Inspired by my time in the Canadian Rockies, I returned to school with an intense desire to explore yoga further and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Two months later, I found myself on an unforgettable adventure to the remote jungles of Costa Rica for a transformative 10-day humanitarian and yoga retreat. Immersed in this enriching experience, my passion for yoga was solidified, and I discovered the vibrant community that surrounds it. It became clear to me that after completing my studies in Biological Science at the University of Guelph, my next step would be enrolling in a yoga teacher training (YTT) program.
Following my graduation in the summer of 2021, I wasted no time and began my YTT program in September of the same year. Under the guidance of the esteemed Erin Evans at the Banff Practice Yoga Studio, I completed my 200-hour YTT. Eager to continue my learning journey, I delved into Aerial Yoga, completing a 45-hour Aerial YTT in June 2022. More recently, in March 2024 I completed a 50-hour Rocket Yoga Training, opening my eyes and mind to the different ways of building asana.
My approach to teaching is characterized by my commitment to creating safe and inclusive spaces for practitioners of all levels. My classes are thoughtfully curated, blending elements of pranayama, meditation, invigorating flows, and the gentle melodies of my bamboo flute, which often serenade my students during savasana. With a deep-rooted passion for sharing the transformative power of yoga, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to grow and flow alongside my students.
